Bartholomew Co. Jail body scanner helps catch drug smuggler

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The recently purchased full-body scanner for the Bartholomew County Jail is already paying off. Columbus police officers arrested Eric Winship, 27, of Columbus, on Sunday, and while processing him into the corrections facility, the scanner detected hidden drugs.

The suspect had been asked if he had anything on his person, and he supposedly responded negatively. Law enforcement proceeded to pat down Winship and bring him through the scanner which they say revealed a “pouch” on his person.
